Jade Leung

Jade Leung ( Chinese  梁 琤 , Pinyin Liáng Chēng , native Chinese  梁玉燕 , Pinyin Liáng Yù Yān , Cantonese  Leung Yuk-yin ; born November 23, 1969 in Hong Kong ) is an actress from Hong Kong who, through her participation in Martial Art and Action films became known to a larger audience.

life and work

After graduating from high school, she moved to Switzerland for four years , where she studied fashion design, among other things. In 1990 she returned to Hong Kong. She subsequently worked as a model; in addition, she took part unsuccessfully in the Miss Asia Pageant beauty contest .

Through appearances in TV spots, businessman and film producer Dickson Poon became aware of the 165 cm tall beauty . Poons film studio D&B Films planned the remake of the Luc Besson thriller Nikita and Leung was able to prevail against around 200 competitors. The leading role in Black Cat , for which she was named Best Young Actress at the 1992 Hong Kong Film Awards , made her known beyond Hong Kong's borders.
