Jadovnik

Jadovnik ( Serbian - Cyrillic Јадовник ) is a mountain range in southwestern Serbia . The Hercynian mountain range is approx. 25 km long, its highest mountain is the Katunić at 1,734 m above sea level.

Most of the Jadovnik is covered by forests and meadows. The upper part is covered with conifers and the lower part with mixed forest. The main road E763 from Prijepolje to Bijelo Polje in Montenegro runs parallel to the Lim River along the southwestern side of Jadovnik . Scattered on the Jadovnik plateau is the village of Stranjani , and on the western side is the village of Sopotnica . On its northern side the mountains are bounded by the Mileševka River. The old connecting road (No. 8) between Prijepolje and Sjenica runs through the Mileševka valley . There is the village Milošev Do .

tourism

Hotel tourism is only slightly developed in the Jadovnik area. The village of Sopotnica is a frequent destination for hikers and nature lovers, especially because of the waterfalls on the river of the same name . The Christian Orthodox Mileševa Monastery from the 13th century is located in the Jadovnik area .
