Sjenica ( Serbian - Cyrillic Сјеница ) is a small town in the south-west Serbian mountain region on the northern slope of the Pešter mountain range. The city itself is at an altitude of about 1000  m. i. J. . It is the administrative seat of the municipality of the same name with about 26,000 inhabitants and belongs to the Zlatibor district .

Sjenica is located in the Sjenica plain of the same name, which was formed by the Vapa and Uvac rivers . The southern part of the municipality is occupied by the outflowless Pešter plateau (Peštersko polje).

At the 2011 census, 73.9% of the municipality's residents identified themselves as Bosniaks , 19.9% ​​as Serbs and 4.7% as ethnic Muslims .
