The Uvac ([ ˈuvat͡s ], Serbian - Cyrillic Увац ) is a river in southwest Serbia and in the east of the Republika Srpska in Bosnia and Herzegovina . The right and longest tributary of the Lim is 119 km long.
Run
The river has its source in the Ozren Mountains west of Sjenica and then flows down into the Sjenica plain. There it unites with the Vapa , which is actually the longer source river of the Uvac and rises in the mountains east of Sjenica. The Uvac now turns to the northwest to cross the deep gorges of the Stari Vlah region ("Old Wallachia"), in which it is dammed several times. In this way, three large reservoirs were created, namely Sjeničko jezero , Zlatarsko jezero and Radoinjsko jezero .
In the lower reaches of the Uvac now flows in a narrow valley between the mountains Pobijenik and Zlatar on the left and Zlatibor on the right. At Štrpci it reaches the border of Bosnia and Herzegovina and turns south for the last 10 km to form the Bosnian-Serbian border. Finally, the river flows into the Lim below the village of Uvac and northwest of Priboj .
Catchment area
The catchment area of the Uvac covers around 1310 km² and is part of the Danube river system . The river is not navigable. The main tributaries are Vapa , Kladnica and Tisovica , all of which flow into the Uvac from the right.
