Sopotnica ( Serbian - Cyrillic Сопотница ) is a place in the Zlatibor district in the south-western mountainous region of Serbia . It is part of the Prijepolje municipality . The village of Sopotnica is best known for the waterfalls of the same name. The place is also characterized by several houses with an extraordinary structure from the Middle Ages.

Since 1948 there have been major changes in the population development. In 1948 416 people lived in this place. In 2002 there were 136 inhabitants, a significant decrease in the number of residents.
