The Jaeger Hills are a group of hills and nunataks on the Orville coast of West Antarctic Ellsworthland . They rise up to 1000 m high in northeast-southwest expansion over a length of around 40 km between the Matthews Glacier and the McCaw Ridge .
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) mapped the group based on its own surveys and aerial photographs by the United States Navy from 1961 to 1967. A team from the USGS led by geologist Peter Dewitt Rowley (* 1943) visited the group between 1977 and 1978. It is named after James Walter Jaeger, head of the Navy squadron VXE-6 at the time and pilot of an LC-130 Hercules to provide logistical support to the crew.
