The former hunting lodge Siedlinghausen is located around three kilometers from the center of Siedlinghausen at the foot of the Steinberg (713 m) on the L 742 between Siedlinghausen and the Schmallenberg district of Rehsiepen near the Neger river . To the west of the road is the Neger- und Birautal nature reserve .

history

Siedlinghausen was first mentioned in 1314 in the Meschede Monastery Register of Goods . The name is probably due to "Sedelhof" (manor, seat of the nobles).

The noble house was important for Siedlinghausen from the beginning. The estate initially stood at the Potthof in Siedlinghausen around 1300.

After the von Gaugreben family took over the property around 1370, the new owner built a new domicile on Wolfhagen ten years later. The estate remained in the possession of the von Gaugreben family until 1657. Then it fell to Caspar Christian Vogt von Elspe , who also had new manor buildings built.

From 1750 to 1810, Gut Siedlinghausen again came into the possession of the von Vincke family through inheritance . In 1810 they first offered the property to the community for purchase. After the local council refused the purchase, Baron Friedrich Leopold von Fürstenberg acquired the property. The baron then had the battered manor building torn down. The view of the former castle Siedlinghausen is only preserved on an old hunting border map from 1658 in the Herdringer archive .

In 1858, Baron von Fürstenberg received a building permit from the municipality for the construction of a hunting lodge . In 1966 the castle was demolished. A house was built on the foundation walls in 1968.
