Jaime Yavitz

Jaime Yavitz (born November 3, 1933 in Montevideo , Uruguay , † June 4, 2016 ) was a Uruguayan actor , theater director and lecturer.

Life

Since Yavitz completed his training at the Escuela Municipal de Arte Dramático (EMAD) with a gold medal in 1959 , he has been a member of the Comedia Nacional ensemble . From 1969 to 1973 and 1982 to 1985 he also worked there as a lecturer in the field of performing arts . In the three periods 1980 to 1985, 1986 to 1990 and 1997 to 2000 he held the position of Artistic Director at the Comedia Nacional. In addition to a few productions on his part, he was mainly present as an actor at the Comedia Nacional while performing his other functions.

Yavitz, who also worked as a secondary school literature teacher, was also director of the Departamento de Actividades Teatrales of the Uruguayan Ministry of Education and Culture ( Ministerio de Educación y Cultura - MEC). He was a member of the Comisión Administradora del Fondo Nacional del Teatro (COFONTE). On Montecarlo Televisión Canal 4 he was responsible for a program dealing with news from the field of theater / acting.
