Jaina Lee Ortiz , born Jessica Ortiz , (born November 20, 1986 in Monterey County , California ) is an American actress .

life and career

Jaina Lee Ortiz was born in California in 1986 and grew up in the New York borough of Bronx . Her parents are of Puerto Rican descent and the father is a criminal investigator with the NYPD .

Ortiz began taking dance lessons at an early age and later taught himself. At the Maggie Flanigan Studio in New York she took acting lessons and made her first appearances on the theater stage.

After her first small appearances in films, she took part in 2010 under the name Jessica Ortiz in the actor casting show Scream Queens on VH1 , where she came in second. In 2013 she was cast in the pilot of the planned Chris Carter series The After , which never went into series. For this, she played the lead role of the police officer Annalize Villa in the 2015 police series Rosewood , until the series was discontinued after two seasons. In the 2017 aired second season of the series Shooter , she played the recurring role of the marine infantryman Angela Tio.

Since 2018 Jaina Lee Ortiz can be seen in the series Station 19 , an offshoot of the series Grey's Anatomy . There she plays the main role of the firefighter Andy Herrera.
