Jajangmyeon is a Korean noodle dish.
Jajangmyeon is made from pan-fried wheat noodles with oil, salty black soybean paste sauce ( Chunjang 춘장), meat and vegetables. The dish is inexpensive, can be obtained anywhere in South Korea and was recognized by the government in 2006 as one of the "100 Korean Cultural Symbols".
history
The dish is a modified form of the Chinese Zha jiang mian of the same name ( Chinese 炸醬麵 , Pinyin zhájiàng miàn ) from the cuisine of Shandong Province . The taste of Korean jjajang is different from the Chinese dish.
In South Korea, Jajangmyeon has traditional meaning on April 14, Black Day . Those who missed out on Valentine's Day (February 14th) and White Day (March 14th) will mourn this on April 14th and eat Jajangmyeon for consolation.
