Jake Fred Buxton (born March 4, 1985 in Sutton-in-Ashfield , Nottinghamshire ) is an English football player who is under contract with the second division side Burton Albion .

Career

Mansfield Town and Burton Albion

Jake Buxton, who came from his own youth academy, made his debut on October 22, 2002 in a game of the Football League Trophy for Mansfield Town . In the second half of the 2002/03 season he played three league games for the third division, before the club relegated to the fourth division as penultimate. In the following season Mansfield missed the direct re-promotion due to a loss in the play-off final against Huddersfield Town . After three seasons in the lower third of the table, Buxton rose with his team in the 2007/08 season from the Football League Two and then left the club for which he had been active since he was 13.

On August 5, 2008 Buxton moved to the fifth division club Burton Albion, trained by Nigel Clough . In the 2008/09 season he won the championship in the Conference National with his new team .

Derby County

Shortly after the rise with Burton Albion, Jake Buxton was committed by the second division Derby County , who was coached by Nigel Clough since January 2009. After nineteen league games in the Football League Championship 2009/10 , he only played one league game in 2010/11 due to injury. After returning to the 2011/12 Football League Championship , Jake Buxton signed a new two-year deal in April 2012.

Wigan Athletic and Burton Albion

On July 26, 2016, Buxton moved to the second division Wigan Athletic , with whom he was relegated back to the third division at the end of the EFL Championship 2016/17 .

In the summer of 2017, he returned to Burton Albion after eight years and signed a one-year contract.
