Jake Wood (born July 12, 1972 in Westminster , London ) is a British actor .

Wood plays predominantly in television films and series. Since 1990 he plays the role of Max Branning in the BBC - soap opera EastEnders . He previously played the role of Jackson in two episodes .

Woods won a British Soap Award in the Best Storyline category in 2008 and a British Soap Award in the Best Onscreen Partnership category in 2012 for his role as Max Branning in EastEnders .
