Jakiw Naumowytsch Lapynskyj ( Ukrainian Яків Наумович Лапинський , Russian Яков Наумович Лапинский / Jakow Naumowitsch Lapinski , English transcription Yakov Lapinsky , then a Ukrainian composer , born January 7, 1928 in the Soviet Union of Uman , Ukraine , Ukraine .

life and work

In 1955 Lapynskyj completed his studies in Kiev at the composers department of the Kiev Conservatory with Levko Rewucki . From then on he worked as a composer, at times also as a conductor and pianist . From 1980 he taught in the “Composition and Instrumentation” class of the national music academy, and in 1994 he was appointed professor .

Between 1955 and 1994 he published numerous musical compositions, including 3 symphonies , 8 symphonic poems , 12 concertos for solo instruments and orchestra , 3 rhapsodies for orchestra, several overtures and the oratorio "Im Weltraum!" (В космос!) (1964).

He also wrote music for theatrical performances and wrote the film music for several movies between 1967 and 1989 . His most famous film composition is the music for the Soviet science fiction classic " Andromeda Fog " (Туманность Андромеды) (1967).

In 1991 he was awarded the title of "Honored Artist of Ukraine" (Заслуженный деятель искусств Украины).

In 1997 Lapynskyj moved to Germany. Since then he has lived in Darmstadt .
