Jakob Heinrich Dann (born April 24, 1720 in Tübingen ; † 1790 there ) was a lawyer. He worked as a court judge . He was also mayor of Tübingen from 1752 to 1790 as well as a member of the select committee of the landscape and landscape deputy .

Life

Jakob Heinrich Dann was a son of Johann Jakob Dann (1697–1744), a councilor in Tübingen, and his wife Jakobine Magdalene geb. Eisenbach. After studying law, he worked as a court judge. On October 30, 1742, he married Sophia Elisabeth Mögling, with whom he had twelve children, including Christian Adam Dann . A steep career began for him in 1752. He became (in addition to his office as court judge) not only a court relative and mayor of Tübingen, but also a member of the select committee of the landscape. In the years 1763 to 1767 and again in 1770 he was also a member of the landscape.

Jakob Heinrich Dann is best known for his attempt to fight corruption in the Select Committee. He also tried to reinstate Johann Jakob Moser as a landscape consultant in 1770. He was supported by other Pietists , including Friedrich Christoph Oetinger and Chancellor Jeremias Friedrich Reuss . Then did not succeed in reaching a majority in the vote in the landscape. Since he was unsuccessful, Dann resigned his offices as a landscape representative (member of parliament, member of the select committee and court judge).

From 1770 until his death in 1790 he was still a court relative and mayor of Tübingen.

The Tübingen Dannstrasse was named after Dann . It is a short street between Rosenauer Weg and Hallstattstrasse in the north-west of the city.
