Jakob Helling

Jakob Helling (* 1990 in Bielefeld ) is a German jazz musician ( trumpet , composition ).

Live and act

Helling was a young student in Bremen and did his bachelor's degree in jazz trumpet in 2016 at the Folkwang University in Essen. At that time he was a member of the Federal Jazz Orchestra ( Groove and the Abstract Truth ). Then he completed a master's degree in composition at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz with Ed Partyka . At the beginning of 2019 he presented his own works with his 17-piece Concert Big Band on a debut tour in Austria; Recordings of it were mixed by Roman Schwaller and released as a live album. The CD Klang der Psalmen contains a brass section by him. He can also be heard on albums by Sebastian Dey and the Concept Art Orchestra and worked with the Subway Jazz Orchestra in Cologne in 2020 .

With his Jakob Helling Concert Big Band he won both the advancement award of the Carrer Service Center of the University of Art Graz and an appreciation award from this institution.
