Jakob Nüesch (entrepreneur)
Jakob Nüesch (born March 6, 1892 in Balgach ; † April 27, 1967 in Altstätten ) was a Swiss embroidery manufacturer and politician from Balgach in the canton of St. Gallen . From 1932 to 1935 he was the leader of the Rhine Valley embroidery campaigns .
Life
Jakob Nüesch grew up in his home community and spent his entire life there. Nuesch came from a poor background. After primary school in Balgach, he attended secondary school in Berneck, worked as a businessman and turned to the embroidery industry. He quickly worked his way up to the pattern sticker and did this for various Rheintaler companies before he founded his own manufacturing business with his brother in Eichholz in Balgach in 1912 . In 1919 the Nüesch brothers purchased the most modern embroidery machines . In 1924 Nüesch married Gertrud Looser from Toggenburg . In the early 1930s he became the leader of the troubled Rheintaler Sticker, which elected him to numerous offices. 1935-1939 he was the National Council for the General People list St. Gallen 1936 to 1948 he belonged to the Cantonal Council and from 1936 to 1945 he was Balgach as mayor before. In 1959 Nüesch, now the sole owner, sold the business. On April 27, 1967, he died as a respected embroidery manufacturer in Altstätten.
