Jakob Styben (* 15. October 1991 in Alekseevka in Omsk Oblast , Soviet Union ) is a German K-1 - Kickboxer and Muay-Thai - boxer in the cruiserweight division and a fighter of the German national team in Muaythai.

Life

Jakob Styben came to Germany with his family at the age of 12. He started martial arts in 2006 when he registered at the Zweibrücken martial arts school. As an amateur, he recorded a total of 37 wins in 45 fights. In 2012 he met national coach Detlef Türnau at a training camp in Thailand. A month later he moved from Zweibrücken to Rommerskirchen (near Cologne). Since then, he has been trained personally by national coach Detlef Türnau in the Bujin Gym Rommerskirchen. Jakob Styben has been training with Guido Schumacher at the Martial Arts Center in Grevenbroich since 2018.

Styben (fighting name The Courageous ) is multiple German champion in Muaythai and K-1.

In 2014 he won a bronze medal at the World Championships in Malaysia and bronze at the European Championships in Poland. In 2015 he was runner-up in the World Cup in Bangkok , Thailand . as well as Northern Thailand Champion in Muaythai (Thai boxing). In 2016 he won a silver medal at the European Championships in Croatia. In 2017 he was the first and only German Thai boxer to take part in the World Games in Wroclaw (Poland). Also in 2017 he won the bronze medal at the World Championships in Belarus.

In September 2017 he played his first fight for "Glory" among the pros.
