Jakob Thoma

Jakob Thoma (born December 2, 1848 in Mödling ; † October 22, 1910 ibid) was an Austrian politician of the CS.

Thoma, who was a member of the Christian Social Party , was a veterinarian (blacksmith) in the civilian profession .

In his home town of Mödling he was from 1885 to 1890 in the municipal council and 1890-1910 Mayor . Numerous school buildings and the regulation of the Mödlingbach fell during his term of office . He played a key role in the construction of the KuK Technical Military Academy in 1904, which today houses the HTL Mödling .

Also in the period from 1890 to 1910 he was a member of the Lower Austrian Landtag , and from 1902 to 1908 he was a member of Baden , Gumpoldskirchen , Mödling and Perchtoldsdorf . In the last two years 1909 and 1910 the city of Baden fell away. He was elected for the first time in the by-election after Josef Schöffel did not accept his mandate.

He died on October 22, 1910 in Mödling, where he is also buried in an honorary grave in the city of Mödling.

Awards

He was also a knight of the Franz Joseph Order and owner of the Golden Cross of Merit with the crown.

The Jakob-Thoma-Hauptschule , which later became the Jakob-Thoma-Mittelschule , as well as the Thomastraße leading past the school were named in his honor.
