Jakob Tobler

Jakob Tobler (born May 10, 1883 in Heiden ; † June 29, 1964 in Altstätten ; legal resident in Heiden) was an entrepreneur from the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden .

Life

Jakob Tobler was the son of Johann Ulrich Tobler, a silk weaver and Anna Katharina Niederer. His first marriage was Hedwig Schmid in 1902. In 1953 he married Olga Bosshard, née Buder, daughter of Rudolf Buder. Tobler completed a commercial apprenticeship in Rheineck . Then he worked in embroidery - and the rideaux industry. In 1916 he founded a company for chemical pharmaceutical products in Altstätten . This sold, among other things, care products for fir floors and leather shoes. The first factory was built in 1928. At the beginning of the 1930s, his sons Max Tobler and Alfred Tobler joined the company. The successful ski gliss permanent coating was developed and produced in 1933. In 1934 the wax Skimont followed . In 1933 and 1934 the name was changed from Tobler & Co. to ToKo AG. At the 1948 Winter Olympics in St. Moritz , the company was entrusted with the official waxing service. After several takeovers, Toko-Swix Sport AG was founded in Altstätten in 2010.
