Jakow Issajewitsch Neistadt

Jakow Issajewitsch Neistadt ( Russian Яков Исаевич Нейштадт / Jakow Issajewitsch Neischtadt; born October 6, 1923 in Moscow ) is a Soviet, later Israeli author of chess books .

Neistadt competed as a tournament player against the Russian elite at the time in the 1950s and 1960s. His best historical rating in May 1956 was 2396, making him 360th in the world. He used his experience to write a number of textbooks on chess, especially openings and combination games , some of which have also been translated into German and English. From 1955 to 1973 he was the secretary in charge of the magazine Chess in the USSR . Neistadt also played correspondence chess and has been an Honored International Master since 2003.
