James William Latham Baillieu, 3rd Baron Baillieu (born November 16, 1950 ) is a British peer and banker of Australian descent.

life and career

Baillieu was born on November 16, 1950 to William Baillieu, 2nd Baron Baillieu (1915–1973) and Anne Bayliss Page. He attended Radley College, Abingdon . In 1977 he graduated from Monash University, Melbourne with a Bachelor of Economics .

From 1970 to 1973 he served in the Coldstream Guards , where he rose to Second Lieutenant . From 1978 to 1980 he worked for the Banque Nationale de Paris (Melbourne) . From 1980 to 1988 he was Assistant Director at Rothschild Australia Ltd . At Manufacturers Hanover Australia Ltd , Baillieu was a director from 1988 to 1990. From 1990 to 1992 he was at the Standard Chartered Asia Limited . From 1992 to 1994 he was Assistant Director of Crédit Lyonnais Asia Ltd. and in 1995 at Nomura International (Hong Kong) Limited . From 1995 to 1996 he was General Director of Regent European Securities . Baillieu was Director of the CentreInvest Group Moscow from 1996 to 1999 .

He has been Director of Anthony Baillieu and Associates (Hong Kong) Ltd since 1992 and Managing Director of Bank NIKoil since 2000 . He lives in Melbourne .

Baillieu is currently not a member of the Hereditary Peerage Association .

Membership in the House of Lords

After the death of his father in 1973, Baillieu inherited the title of Baron Baillieu and the then associated seat in the House of Lords .

In the 1997/1998 session, he was given leave of absence by the House of Lords . He lost his seat through the House of Lords Act 1999 . He had not run for election for any of the remaining seats. He is not listed in the Register of Hereditary Peers , which are available for by-election.

family

Baillieu married Cornelia Masters Ladd in 1974, daughter of William Conkling Ladd. They divorced in 1985. He married Clare Stephenson, daughter of Peter Stephenson, in 1987. The first marriage resulted in a son.
