Pera is a music ensemble that mainly interprets early music , Ottoman music, Sufi music , music from the Orient and Occident in the Baroque style .

history

The Pera Ensemble was founded by Mehmet Cemal Yeşilçay and Ihsan Özer and named after Pera , an old part of Istanbul. Yeşilçay and Özer were founding members of Sarband , among others, and performed with ensembles such as Hesperion XXI , Concerto Köln , Emre Ensemble and Ferahfeza Ensemble.

The group performed at the Handel Festival in Halle , the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival , the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music , the Rheingau Music Festival and the Schwetzingen Festival . She played in the Berlin Philharmonic, the Cologne Philharmonic, the Munich Philharmonic, the Dortmund Concert Hall, the Handel Festival Halle with One God 2017, the IKSV Istanbul Festival, the CRR Istanbul, the 2016 concert tour in Brazil and many other halls.

  • Ottoman music, Sufi music. Music from the Orient and Occident in the Baroque. The continuation of the Alla Turca idea.
  • Research into the manuscripts of Wojcieck Boboski alias Ali Ufki (ﺒﻚ علي اُفقي) Haza Mecmua i Saz ü Söz . Transcriptions in collaboration with MIAM Istanbul.
  • Music by the composer Buhûrizâde Mustafa Itrî (1640–1712, بهورزاده مسطفى عِطرى)

  • Café : With works by Jean-Baptiste Lully , Porpora, Vivaldi, Handel, Ebu Bekir Aga, Kantemir and others. "Set off musically to places where coffee was once served: in the seraglio , pavilions and salons of fine society."
  • Divan: On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the publication of Goethe's west-east Divan . In collaboration with the Munich Symphony Orchestra
  • Tamerlano & Bajezet: A pasticcio with arias by Handel and Gasparini
  • Jerusalem: Music from the Middle Ages to the Baroque about Jerusalem
