Werner Ehrhardt (* 1957 in Cologne ) is a German violinist and conductor in the field of historical performance practice .

Life

Werner Ehrhardt received his training as a baroque violinist with Franzjosef Maier in Cologne and Sigiswald Kuijken , as well as conducting with Karl Heinz Bloemeke . He completed his studies with Kató Havas and Renate Peter .

Werner Ehrhardt has made guest appearances with numerous German and international orchestras and has worked with soloists such as Daniel Hope , Dorothee Oberlinger , Viktoria Mullova , Uri Caine , Xavier de Maistre , Edita Gruberová , Chen Reiss , Christine Schäfer , Vesselina Kasarova , Nuria Rial , Simone Kermes , Daniel Müller -Schott , Magdalena Kožená , Barbara Hendricks , Andreas Scholl , Olli Mustonen , Christiane Oelze , Thomas Zehetmair , Yair Dalal , Nils Mönkemeyer , Avi Avital , Laura Aikin , Valer Sabadus , Pera Ensemble , RIAS Chamber Choir and Tölzer Boys Choir .

In 1985 Werner Ehrhardt founded the Chamber Orchestra Concerto Köln, which specializes in historical performance practice . Under his direction, together with international orchestras, with Concerto Köln and with his Ensemble l'arte del mondo, founded in 2004, more than 60 CD recordings from the fields of opera and oratorio as well as concertante-symphonic repertoire have received numerous international awards. The recordings include a number of rediscoveries by forgotten composers.

2007 Werner Ehrhardt received with Concerto Köln an Echo Klassik in the category " Early Music " of the year for inclusion Il Divino boemo of Josef Mysliveček . His CDs L'Irato ou l'Emporté (Capriccio) by Etienne Nicolas Méhul and Liaisons (Onyx Classics) with works by Mozart , Salieri and Joseph Haydn were awarded a Diapason d'or .
