Dorothee Oberlinger

Dorothee Oberlinger (born September 2, 1969 in Aachen ) is a German recorder player , conductor and professor at the Salzburg Mozarteum . It is mainly devoted to the area of historical performance practice .

Life

Dorothee Oberlinger was born in Aachen and grew up in Simmern in the Hunsrück . She studied school music and German literature at the University of Cologne . After the first state examination, he studied recorder in Cologne, Amsterdam and Milan. Her teachers included Günther Höller ( Cologne University of Music and Dance ), Walter van Hauwe (Amsterdam) and Pedro Memelsdorff (Milan). In 1997 she won first prize at the international "Moeck" UK / SRP competition in London, and in 1998 she made her solo debut in London's Wigmore Hall .

As a soloist, she has appeared with internationally renowned ensembles and baroque orchestras, for example the Sonatori de la Gioiosa Marca, the Musica Antiqua Köln , the Academy of Ancient Music and, increasingly, with the Ensemble 1700, which she founded in 2002. She has received several prizes and awards for her recordings , u. a. the ECHO Klassik .

Oberlinger has been professor at the Mozarteum in Salzburg since 2004 and director of the Institute for Early Music there as well as the first deputy director of the Institute for New Music. Since 2009 she has also been director of the Arolser Barockfestspiele.

She was also involved in the recording of the track Takla Makan for the 2009 album by the group Yello .

In 2016 Dorothee Oberlinger was made an honorary citizen of the city of Simmern . In the same year, on the 250th anniversary of the death of Georg Philipp Telemann (1681–1767) , she was appointed Telemann ambassador by the newly founded network of Telemann cities. At the 41st Musikfestival Tage Alter Musik in Herne in 2016 she conducted the opera Lucio Cornelio Silla by Georg Friedrich Händel , a co-production of the Göttingen International Handel Festival .

From September 1, 2018, Dorothee Oberlinger will be the artistic director of the Potsdam Sanssouci Music Festival .
