James Beauregard Beam (born August 25,  1864 in Washington County , Kentucky, USA; † December 27, 1947 in Bardstown , Kentucky, USA), called Jim , was the manufacturer and namesake of the whiskey Jim Beam . He ran the distillery founded by his great-grandfather Johannes Jakob Böhm from 1894 to 1946.

James learned how to make whiskey at the age of 16 from his father, David M. Beam. Under his leadership, the Jim Beam distillery was a thriving business enterprise until 1919.

With the beginning of Prohibition , Beam had to close the distillery in 1920, moved to Florida and operated a lemon plantation, a coal mine and a quarry there, among other things. After the end of Prohibition in 1933, James Beam rebuilt the distillery at the age of 70 and managed it until 1946. His successor as head of the company was his son, T. Jeremiah Beam (1899–1977).
