James Douglas, 1st Baronet (of Kelhead)

Sir James Douglas, 1st Baronet (born September 19, 1639 , † 1708 ) was a Scottish nobleman .

He came from a branch of the Clan Douglas and was a son of the Hon. Sir William Douglas († 1673). His paternal grandfather was William Douglas , 1st Earl of Queensberry . From his father he inherited the Kelhead estate in Dumfriesshire . On February 26, 1668 King Charles II granted him the hereditary title of Baronet , of Kelhead in Scotland.

He married his cousin Lady Catherine Douglas, daughter of James Douglas, 2nd Earl of Queensberry , and had with her a son and heir, Sir William Douglas, 2nd Baronet (1675-1733).

He died in the spring of 1708, at the latest in April.
