James Douglas, 3rd Earl of Angus (* around 1428 , † 1446 ) was a Scottish nobleman .

James was a son of William Douglas, 2nd Earl of Angus , and his wife Margaret Hay. He succeeded his father as Earl of Angus in 1437. On July 1, 1445 his estates and titles were confiscated, but soon after he was rehabilitated.

He was married to Joan (called "the Mute Lady"), a deaf-mute daughter of King James I of Scotland . The marriage remained childless, so his brother George followed him as 4th Earl.
