William Douglas, 2nd Earl of Angus

William Douglas, 2nd Earl of Angus (around 1398 - October 1437 ) was a Scottish nobleman .

William was a son of George Douglas, 1st Earl of Angus , and his wife, the Scottish Princess Mary. He succeeded his father as Earl of Angus in 1402.

William was instrumental in the negotiations for the release of Jacob I in 1423 . In 1430 he was the Scottish ambassador to England and in 1433 Warden of the Middle Marches. He fought on September 10, 1436 in the Battle of Piperdean , in which he was able to defeat the English with his troops.

In 1414 the Earl married Margaret, daughter of Sir William Hay, and had five children with her:
