James J. Gross

James J. Gross is an American psychologist and professor at Stanford University , best known for his extensive research on emotion regulation .

life and work

James J. Gross studied psychology and philosophy at Yale University . In 1993 he received his PhD in clinical psychology from the University of California, Berkeley . He has been a professor at Stanford University since 1994, and a full professor there since 2009.

He is the director of the Stanford Psychophysiology Laboratory , which conducts psychophysiological research on emotions and emotion regulation.
