The Violet Tribe (TVT for short) is an underground music and bellydance project from North Rhine-Westphalia. The combination of acoustic and visual elements is characteristic; Music, texts and dance are equal and constitutive components of the underlying concept.

history

The Violet Tribe was founded in 2009 by Bianca Stücker / Cinnamon Star ( vocals , synthesizers, dulcimer , rauschpfeifen, recorders, harpsichord , percussion , performance ). The name refers to the band Violet , inspired by historical and historicizing styles , in which she and Oliver Pietsch / Dr. P ( electric guitar , acoustic guitar, rauschpfeifen, percussion) has been active since 1999, as well as the dance styles Tribal and Tribal Fusion. The decisive factor behind the project was the idea of not just producing music for the tribal and tribal fusion scene, but also involving the dancers in the creation and presentation of the music. Oliver Pietsch is the only member who “only” makes music.

Lily Dux / Miss Lily Qamar (performance, dulcimer, vocals, percussion) had already been a guest dancer with Violet before the band was founded, a little later Mariam-Ala Rashi (performance, percussion) and Svenja Pein / Henneth Annun (performance, vocals, guitar , Percussion). Svenja Niedergriese / Svahara Aicanár (performance, vocals, duduk, monochord , erhu , percussion) and Arzo Renz (performance, electric bass , percussion) completed the founding line-up.

In February 2010 the debut album The Violet Tribe's Ravishing Collection of Curios , produced by Bianca Stücker, was released , on which, in addition to Lars Kappeler (electric bass) and Christoph Kutzer ( cello ), several violet musicians also played (Markus Bosser ( violin ), Rainer Janßen ( Bagpipe ), Daniel Wirtz ( drums ) and Gurbet Albayrak ( Saz )). The choreographies are created by the respective dancers, Svenja Niedergriese is responsible for the majority of the group choreographies.

The “very second” (Bianca Stücker) show of the project took place in 2010 at the Wave Gotik Treffen in the Schauspielhaus in Leipzig , in the same year The Violet Tribe made a guest appearance at the Castle Party in Bolków, Poland. After further concerts and festivals with bands like Qntal , Coppelius , Persephone and Bacio di Tosca , the second studio album Grand Hotel was released in summer 2011 . While the debut represented an acoustic-visual "cabinet of curiosities", a fantastically spooky hotel formed the framework for the second album. The group collected topics which Bianca Stücker implemented musically. The accompanying live show is based on a “guided tour” through the fictional hotel.

The Violet Tribe shot a video for the title Starry Night in Schloss Herten . a. Mark Benecke . After a series of concerts in Germany and the Netherlands, TVT were invited in May 2012 to the “Tribal Fest” in Sebastopol (California) , the oldest and largest tribal event.

style

The diversity of the styles used is based on the tribal and tribal fusion scene, which draws from a very heterogeneous musical repertoire. World music, electronic, jazz, folk, burlesque and steampunk elements flow into the music of the Violet Tribe, and elements from the Middle Ages, Renaissance, Baroque and Romanticism are also processed. At the text level, the use of different languages and historical templates is characteristic. Music, choreographies and costumes form a stylistic unit for each piece.
