James Roosevelt I (born July 16, 1828 in Hyde Park , New York , † December 8, 1900 in New York City ) was an American entrepreneur.

He was vice president of the Delaware and Hudson Railway and president of the Southern Railway Security Company .

His son was the future US President Franklin Delano Roosevelt .
