The former Pudding Hill Wildlife Management Area in the Hampton community was renamed the James V. Spignesi Jr Wildlife Management Area in 1999 . It is a protected area in the US state of Connecticut .
Surname
The sanctuary was named after a DEP (Department of Energy and Environmental Protection) officer who was fatally wounded in a hunting accident.
geography
The sanctuary consists of two parcels separated by Connecticut Route 97 . The western parcel is bounded partially to the west by Brook Road and joins the community of Scotland in the south . The eastern parcel is bordered by Route 97 , which runs north to south along the Pudding Hill ridge , and is closed to the east by the winding course of Downing Brook and its small tributaries. The two streams drain south to the Shetucket River . The closest state parks are Mohegan State Forest to the south and Beaver Brook State Park to the west.
