Jamie Barton

Jamie Barton (born October 17, 1981 in Rome , Georgia ) is an American mezzo-soprano .

Life

Jamie Barton studied singing at Shorter College in Rome and at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. In the summer of 2007 she began her career with the role of Annina in Verdi 's La traviata at the Opera Theater of Saint Louis. In 2009 she made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera in Verdi's Macbeth . She is the winner of the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition and the Richard Tucker Award.

In 2019 she was the soloist of the Last night of the Proms . Barton has appeared several times in Germany - primarily in Munich - and is known to a wider audience as a soloist in broadcasts of the " Metropolitan Opera Live in HD" series
