Jamshid Karimi

Jamshid Karimi (* 1947 in Iran ) is an Iranian artist.

Life

He began studying theater and film directing in Tehran in 1967 . From 1975 to 1979 he worked as a professor of painting and art history at the Ministry of Art in Shiraz . His main focus was stage painting, architecture and graphics.

Works by Karimi have been shown in the USA, Paris, Germany and in 1973 at the Venice Biennale . An international exhibition in Tehran in 1974 showed his pictures in a joint exhibition with Picasso, Braque and Matisse. In 1978 Karimi was named “Best Painter of the Year” in the “Shahyad” Museum. His pictures are in the International Gallery in New York, in the Ernst Fischer Museum in London and in the Museum of Art and Culture in Tehran.

Jamshid Karimi has lived in Bonn with his wife and children since 1983 .
