Jan Žemlík (born October 9, 1977 in Příbram ) is a Czech football player .
Club career
Žemlík played in his youth for TJ Nový Jičín, Sokol Žilina, then again in Nový Jičín and finally for Baník Ostrava . In 1995 he moved to Dukla Hranice to do his military service there. Then the striker played again for TJ Nový Jičín, before he was committed in 1998 by the Slovak first division club MŠK Žilina . There he stayed only half a year, just like in his subsequent stations VP Frýdek-Místek in the second Czech division and Koba Senec in the Slovak first division.
In the winter of 1999/00 the attacker moved to Baník Prievidza , but after a few weeks he returned to the Czech Republic and joined the then second division SK LeRK Prostějov . Even there it only lasted a few months. Shortly after the start of the 2000/01 season, Žemlík went to Poland to Włókniarz Kietrz . He returned to his home country in 2001 and played briefly for his former youth club Nový Jičín before signing again with LeRK Prostějov.
The 1.98 meter tall Žemlík only got the chance to play in the Gambrinus League at the age of 24 in April 2002 at Chmel Blšany. He scored a goal on his debut. By the end of the season, he met four times in a total of six games. He was unable to maintain this quota in the following season, scoring eight goals in 24 games. For the 2003/04 season, the striker moved to Marila Příbram , but had a difficult time there because of his sometimes clumsy playing style, especially with the audience. In October 2004 Žemlík went to Tescoma Zlín , but the hit rate remained as unsatisfactory for a striker as before in his hometown Příbram . He agreed with the club's management to terminate the contract at the end of 2006.
Half a year without a club, Žemlík joined the Scottish second division club FC Dundee in July 2007 . In spring 2008, the Czech played for the Slovak club MŠK Žilina before he went to Saigon United for one season in the second Vietnamese league. In summer 2009 Žemlík returned to the Czech Republic and joined his former club Nový Jičín.
