Jan A. Aertsen
Jan Adrianus Aertsen (born September 7, 1938 in Amsterdam ; † January 8, 2016 there ) was a Dutch philosophy professor.
Aertsen received his doctorate in 1982 from the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. The dissertation formed the basis for his 1988 book Nature and creature. Thomas Aquinas's way of thought . In 1984 he became professor of philosophy at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. From 1994 to 2003 he headed the Thomas Institute in Cologne.
