Jan Andersson (politician)

Jan Andersson (born March 17, 1947 in Helsingborg , Sweden ) is a Swedish politician ( SAP ) and MEP.

Andersson was a teacher in Helsingborg from 1972 to 1988 , where he was also a member of the city council from 1982 to 1988. From 1988 to 1995 he was a member of the Swedish Parliament . Since 2000 he has been an extraordinary member of the SAP party executive committee.

From the time Sweden joined the EU in 1995 until the European elections in 2009 , Jan Andersson was a member of the European Parliament in the group of the Party of European Socialists (PES). During this time he was a full member of the Employment and Social Affairs Committee , which he headed from 2005.
