Jan Cux

Jan Cux is the mascot of the city of Cuxhaven .

On March 13, 1973, the North Sea spa replaced a mermaid previously used as a mascot with the “Jan Cux” developed by the local graphic designer Kurt Moldenhauer and his sister-in-law, the artist Magda Roos . He is depicted as a blond male in blue clothes and a blue bobble hat . On the top is written JAN CUX in large letters. In July 1973 a female counterpart named "Cuxi" was added to this figure, who wears red and white clothes and is usually depicted with blond or reddish hair. Around 250,000 mascot stickers are printed and distributed annually.
