A Pudelmütze ( Bommelmütze , Plümmelmütze , poodle hood , bobble hood ) is a knitted cap from wool , cotton , synthetic fibers or a blend with a bobble thereto. This bobble bears similarities to fur hairstyles that are often cut for poodles . It is attached to the hat as an ornament either directly or with a cord.

The bobble hat is not only used by sailors in northern latitudes, it is still pulled over the head in fishing today. On the one hand, the hat keeps the skull and neck warm and, on the other hand, it stays on your head even if it blows heavily at sea. Bobble hat as a clothing style

In England and the Baltic States, this hat is widely used as a male garment for all ages. In Germany it is mainly worn by children and young people in winter . In adults, it looks rather original and has a personal style and recognition value.

The bobble hat was used, among other things, in the series " Janitor Krause " invented by Tom Gerhardt , in which the character Tommie always wears a bobble hat.

Former Faroe goalkeeper Jens Martin Knudsen always wore a bobble hat during the game.

The depictions of Santa Claus since the end of the 19th century also mostly show him with a red bobble hat and white bobble.
