Jan Fransen
Jan Fransen (born July 25, 1877 in Bovenkarspel , † January 18, 1948 in Amsterdam ) was a Dutch Romanist .
Life
Fransen received his doctorate from the Sorbonne in 1926 with the thesis Les comédiens français en Hollande au XVIIe et au XVIIIe siècles (Paris 1925, Geneva 1978). From 1936 he was private lecturer at the University of Amsterdam and from 1943 to 1945 associate professor of French linguistics and literary studies of the Middle Ages. From 1945 until his death he was a professor at the University of Utrecht .
