Jan Gericke

Jan Gericke (born March 6, 1967 ) is a German lawyer and judge at the Federal Court of Justice (BGH).

After completing his legal training, Gericke joined the judicial service of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia in 1999 . He initially worked as a judge at the Bonn Regional Court and Euskirchen District Court until he was appointed judge at the Bonn Regional Court in July 2002. After working in civil and criminal matters, he was seconded to the Federal Court of Justice as a research assistant from 2007 to April 2010. Then he was seconded to the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court, where he was assigned to a criminal senate. In August 2010 he was promoted to judge at the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court.

On June 8, 2012 Gericke was appointed judge at the Federal Court of Justice. At the BGH he is assigned to the 3rd Criminal Senate, which is responsible, among other things, for state security criminal matters. He has been Deputy Chairman of this Senate since January 2018.
