Jan Karel Steppe

Jan Karel Steppe (born November 16, 1918 in Ninove ; † May 9, 2009 in Sint-Amandsberg ) was a Belgian art historian.

Steppe was a professor at the University of Leuven . He received his school education at the Jesuit college in Aalst . He then studied at the Catholic University of Leuven. In Germany he was mainly due to his essay Der hl. Benedict known in the mirror of art . Maurits Smeyers (1937–1999) was one of his students .
