Jan Kucharski (organist)

Jan Kucharski (* 1908 ; † 2002 ) was a Polish organist and music teacher.

Kucharski studied with Marcel Dupré in Paris from 1936–1937 and made the tradition of the French organ style known in Poland after the Second World War. He performed as an organ virtuoso at festivals in Poland and abroad as well as on Polish radio and was the founder and director of the organ class at the State Music Academy in Łódź . Among his students were organists and university teachers such as Leon Batora , Mirosław Pietkiewicz and Irena Wisełka-Cieślar . To mark Kucharski's 100th birthday in 2008, the Łódź Music Academy initiated the Jan Kucharski International Organ Competition.
