Jan Lechoń

Leszek Józef Serafinowicz , known under the pseudonym Jan Lechoń , (born June 13, 1899 in Warsaw , † June 8, 1956 in New York ) was a Polish writer .

Lechoń studied Polish studies in Warsaw from 1916 to 1918 and was involved in the founding of the Skamander poetry group in 1919 . In 1931 he became a cultural attaché in France and emigrated to the USA in 1940, where he committed suicide in 1956. It was closely linked to romantic poetry . In his pessimistic attitude, topics such as love and death dominated, and he also wrote about the history of his homeland.
