Jan Lukeš (born September 12, 1950 in Prague ) is a Czech publicist , television presenter , literary and film critic .

Life

Jan Lukeš graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy at Charles University in Prague in 1976 . At times he could not find a permanent job and worked as a dishwasher. It was not until 1987 that he worked for the Československého filmového ústavu film institute . From 1990 he wrote for the daily Lidové noviny . From 1991 to 1994 he was the head of the cultural department there. From 1999 he moderated the literary magazine Třistatřicettři for the Česká televize television company together with Jan Schmid .

Together with Pavel Štingl he wrote the screenplay for the television production Zaniklý svět Karla Pecky , a film biography about the Czech writer Karel Pecka . He also worked on the script for Martin Šulík's Klíč k určování trpaslíků , a documentary about director Pavel Juráček . He brought out the edited diaries as a book and was awarded the Magnesia Litera in 2003.
