Eleanor Furneaux (born December 9, 1993 ) is a former British skeleton pilot .

Career

Eleanor Furneaux joined the sport of skeleton in 2014 and made her debut in the European Skeleton Cup on November 10, 2016 . In Innsbruck she took 21st place on her debut. One day later, she took 24th place in the second competition on the Igls bobsleigh rink . On January 12th, 2017 she was able to achieve a top ten place in the European Cup for the first time with 13th place at the European Cup in St. Moritz at the Olympia Bobrun St. Moritz – Celerina . During the season she collected 56 points in five races and thus finished 31st in the overall ranking of the European Cup.

In the 2017/18 season she competed in the European Skeleton Cup again and on November 11, 2017, she was able to take part in the first race of the European Cup season in Lillehammer in front of her teammate Brogan Crowley and the French Agathe Bessard . A day later, she also triumphed in the British triple success in front of Brogan Crowley and Hannah Stevenson . After finishing sixth and eighth in Winterberg on November 17th and 18th, she was able to achieve her third and final victory in the European Cup on December 15th in La Plagne . In the second British triple victory of the season, she won ahead of Kimberley Murray and Brogan Crowley. On January 12, 2018, she did not take part in the second run after the first run in Altenberg . This European Cup competition should have been the last of her career. At the end of the season she was able to look forward to third place in the overall ranking of the European Cup behind Brogan Crowley and Alina Tararytschenkowa . After she could not complete a single race in the 2018/19 season, she announced on February 20, 2019 that she had to end her skeleton career on medical advice due to a head injury.
