Jan Stankovsky

Jan Stankovsky (born December 10, 1934 in Brno ; † October 18, 2013 in Vienna ) was an Austrian economic researcher.

Life

Stankovsky emigrated from Czechoslovakia in 1955 and studied at the University of World Trade in Vienna, where he received his doctorate in 1961 with the thesis "The foreign trade system of the Eastern Bloc countries". From 1966 until his retirement in 2000 he worked at the Austrian Institute for Economic Research (WIFO) . Stankovsky was married and had 3 children.

His main research topic was Austria's international economic relations. Other topics included the Asian crisis of the 1990s, the American integration agreement, Russia's indebtedness, the US trade scheme to prevent the transfer of technology to the eastern states (COCOM regime) and the consequences of CSCE conferences, location issues and the role of multinational companies .

He was awarded the title “Professor” for his life's work in science.
