Jan Wilke (born October 16, 1980 in Darmstadt ) is a German composer , choir director and organist .

Life

Jan Wilke studied school music and music theory at the Mannheim University of Music as well as church music (A) and choral conducting at the Heidelberg University of Church Music . In addition, he completed a postgraduate course (Master of Arts) in choral conducting at the University of Birmingham with Simon Halsey , which he graduated with honors. He completed master courses with Simon Carrington , Peter Hanke, Morten Schuldt-Jensen and Daniel Reuss . In 2014 he was an active participant in the international master class at the Rundfunkchor Berlin .

From 2009–2013 he was the conductor of the Altrip Chamber Choir. In November 2014 he was appointed artistic director of the Friedrich-Spee-Choir Trier. Since 2016 he has also been leading the Anglistenchor Heidelberg. Since autumn 2017 he has been a lecturer for choral conducting at the University of Church Music in Heidelberg .

Jan Wilke lives in Heidelberg.

Jan Wilke mainly composes choral music. His works have received several awards and are performed by renowned ensembles such as B. the Osnabrück Youth Choir , the Cologne Kantorei , the Sonux Ensemble , the Little Singers of Armenia and the Young Chamber Choir Rhein-Neckar.

  • 2014: CD "Advent" by the Young Chamber Choir Rhein-Neckar, conducted by Mathias Rickert. The CD includes two sets of songs by Jan Wilke. Published by the Rondeau label.
