Jana Sterbak (born March 19, 1955 in Prague ) is a Canadian artist of Czechoslovak origin who works with the means of conceptual art and installation . Her works are assigned to feminist art and often deal with the body and power. The materials used change, stylistically there is usually a threatening note, which is softened by the ironic tone of her art. Sterbak's best-known works include the installations I Want You to Feel the Way I Do… , a steel dress with stripped power lines, Remote Control , a remote-controlled dress on wheels, and Vanitas: Flesh Dress for an Albino Anorectic , a dress made of meat.

Sterbak had her artistic breakthrough in 1990 with her exhibition at the Biennale di Venezia and a solo exhibition at the National Gallery of Canada in 1991. A series of solo and group exhibitions followed, including a retrospective at the Center Georges Pompidou in Paris. In 2012 she was awarded the Canadian Governor General's Award for Visual and Media Arts .
