Janet Cohen, Baroness Cohen of Pimlico (nee Neel , born July 4, 1940 ) is a British writer , lawyer and life peer of the Labor Party .

Education and family

The daughter of George Edric Neel and Maria Isabel Budge first attended South Hampstead High School, a girls' school in north-west London. In 1962 she completed her Law Studies at Newnham College of Cambridge University with a Bachelor of Arts from.

Janet Neel married James Lionel Cohen, the son of Dr. Richard Henry Lionel Cohen. The couple raised their three children in northern England .

Janet Neel practiced as a lawyer from 1965. After a job in the construction industry union, she worked for thirteen years as an administrative officer in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. She ran two London restaurants. Between 1994 and 1999, Janet Cohen was at the BBC the Member Broadcasting Council .

On May 3, 2000, Janet Cohen was promoted to a life peer as Baroness Cohen of Pimlico , of Pimlico in the City of Westminster , and has since served as a secular lord in the House of Lords for the Labor Party .

Mostly under her maiden name Janet Neel, Janet Cohen emerged as a crime novelist.
